My most read Authors

There are quite a few amazing fantasy authors out there, and some of them have written books I’ve reread time and time again. This post could also be called “My most reread Authors”.

David (and Leigh) Eddings

Eddings was the one author to introduce me to adult fantasy literature. In the worlds he created gods weren’t just sitting by the sideline, they try to do something about the situation, with the help of humans.

I am sad to say I haven’t read any of his earlier works, but I still want to pick them up. Many say they are a lot better than his later work. I want to start from the beginning, with the Belgariad series.

My most read book of his is probably The Redemption of Althalus. It tells the story of the thief Althalus, and how he gets picked to save the world.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Dragonlance Chronicles was also one of the earliest adult fantasy series to get me hooked. The story is based on D&D, which means it is as high fantasy as you can get. Dragons, heroes, villains, gods, elves, dwarfs etc. I fell in love with the characters and the world. This might very well be one of my most reread series.

I have also read Dragonlance Legends, which I liked but not as much as the Chronicles, and at least part of Dragonlance The Second Generation, which I don’t remember much from.

Tamora Pierce

I don’t even remember when I read the first book of The Immortals, I just remember me rereading it all through junior high. To follow Daine on her journey through 4 books in a world unlike anything I had read before was amazing. I still remember parts of especially the last book, although it has been quite a few years since I read them.

It took me a long while to realise Pierce had written other books as well, but when that finally happened I read Song of the Lioness and loved it equally as much.

Oh, now I want to reread these. I hope I can find them in the library, even though they’re probably in Finnish. If you want an easy and fast read, pick up Tamora Pierce’s books.

Myung-Jin Lee

Lee wrote one of my favourite manhwas, Ragnarok. Sadly it ended on a cliffhanger and we won’t get any more since the Lee decided to focus on his career as a game creator. But I’m still hoping he will pick it up at some point and finish the story.

I have reread this manhwa more times than I can count, and I’ve fallen in love with Fenris Fenrir. She is an incredible character that could have done so much, and you just get a taste of her powers. Yes, I am still waiting and hoping for volume 11.

Raymond E. Feist

As with Eddings, I have only read some of the newer work of Feist. And as with Eddings I want to go back and read the old stuff.

So how did I find Feist? In the library where I used to live I had found the aisle where books by Eddings was located, and one day I turned around. On the other side of the aisle, I saw some covers that looked a lot like fantasy. The name of the author was written all over the cover (as it is on many high fabtasy litterature covers) – Raymond E. Feist. I picked up the first book in the Conclave of Shadows trilogy and I was hooked.

There are 6 series set in the same world before the Conclave of Shadows trilogy, so I have a lot of backstory to get into. But you can, without problem, start in the middle of the Riftwar Cylce as I did.

J.K. Rowling

I couldn’t write a post about most read authors without naming J.K. Rowling. I am not even sure anymore how many times I’ve read the first Harry Potter book (and I’ve read it in three languages). If you’ve read My reading history you know how much these books have done for me. Still to this day, I haven’t gotten enough of the story and I love picking up any book from the series and fall back into the story.

Those are the authors I have reread the most, and therefore also read the most. They are what kick-started my love for reading and those who never let me leave. I owe them a huge thank you and hope someone else will (or have) find them as inspiring and enjoyable as I do.
