Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The best birthday gift ever! (I turned 22 yesterday.)
This book was incredible. It was like watching the movie once more. The voices, the surroundings, the feelings. It was beautiful. The movie was probably the best movie I’ve seen all year, and this book is one of the best books I’ve read all year.
It is not only the best book, it is also the most beautiful one! Just take a look at it. The design is on point! Exterior and interior both. This book is going on special display on my shelves.
I think a lot of people already know the story, Newt Scamander releasing a lot of magical beasts in New York, and if you’ve seen the movie you also know all the twists and turns of the story. It is a beautiful story that sets the foundation for something much larger. Can’t wait for the next movie.
To read the screen play was different, at the same time as it was the very same as watching the movie. To me, especially the plot surrounding Credence was much more disturbing to read than to watch. It was so well done in the movie bu I think I saw it much more graphically in my mind while reading. To also get small glimpses into Credence’s thoughts, or feelings, through reading made it touch me so much more.
That is all I am going to mention about the story. Just know, this really feels like a piece of J.K. Rowling’s writing.

When Magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when his magical case is misplaced and some of Newt’s fantastic beasts escape, it spells trouble for everyone…
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marks the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, author of the beloved and internationally bestselling Harry Potter books. Featuring a cast of remarkable characters, this is epic, adventure-packed storytelling at its very best.
