Episode twelve. We’re getting close to the end of the first season… Do you want to join for season two? I am still looking for someone who might be interested in tagging along for this. And I am stubborn so I will continue even if I have to do it alone until the end (*feeling kind of sad*).
This episode has a lot of stuff going on. Once again we see Uther’s blind hatred for magic. The goodness in Morgana and Arthur, but how little they can do. And when Morgana takes matter into her own hands, everything goes wrong. This episode is… is… it is just so much happening.
Already in the beginning you could feel everything would go wrong in this episode. Gwen’s father, Tom, completes a well paid job, but the man collecting it starts using magic. The royal guard, lead by Arthur, storms the smithy and Tom is dragged before the king. Uther proclaims him a traitor for “helping” a sorcerer. He is to be hanged.
This angers Morgana, and she and Uther have the first serious fall out.Oh how I hated Uther at that moment. Don’t get me wrong, I love Anthony Head (Uther), but the character, I despise him. I was also a bit shocked when Morgana goes to find Tauren, but it is understandable.
Side note: Isn’t Tauren handsome?I wouldn’t have minded to see more of him.
Merlin’s dilemma in this episode is a huge one. Should he let Uther die and Arthur become king, as Kilgarrah wants, or should he stop Morgana’s plan and let Arthur grow older as Gaius says?
Throughout the episode you don’t know how it will end. So well written. And when Merlin makes his choice you believe him to make the right one.
