Merlin Watch Along – S02E02: The Once and Future Queen

So sorry for being late! But Winter Break happened last week and all of my posts were scheduled. I was travelling with my family^^ But now I’m back and with an amazing episode at that!

A weak beginning to the second season we leave behind us and forget about, because this episode is one of the top episodes in this series! If the title doesn’t give the story away, I will recap it for you shortly.

So, Arthur realises that people aren’t always truthful to him since he’s the prince (and could have them beheaded if he felt like it). This angers him and he comes up with a plan – to disguise himself for the upcoming tournament and really see if he is as good as he thinks. This results in some funny moments.

ARTHUR: We’ve received reports that a beast has been sighted roaming the forest near the northern borders.

UTHER: What’s the nature of this beast?

ARTHUR: It is said to have the body of a lion, the wings of an eagle, and the…face of a bear. . .

But an assassin arrives in Camelot with the purpose to kill Arthur. Everyone however believes Arthur is missing the tournament due to some beast in the outskirt villages, but the assassin soon finds out the truth.

Arthur hiding + Assassin wanting to kill him = Trouble.

This episode however is filled with so much character growth, especially for Arthur. And it sets the foundation for something big.

Also, WE SEE SIR LEON IN THIS EPISODE! Yes, yes, yes! Maybe my favourite knight in Camelot. He’s such a personality and will only get a bigger role as the series continues onward.

This episode is Merlin at it’s best. Character growth, good plot line, feels… If you’ve seen it you know what I’m going on about. If you haven’t, sorry for the spoilers.
