The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

The lovely Blame it on Chocolate tagged me for this tag – The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag. Thank you so much! And I do blame a lot of stuff on chocolate 😉

Disclaimer: I really dislike disclaimers, but they seem necessary. So, these are my opinions, and since all people are different we are entitled to different opinions. In other words, you probably love something I dislike, and vice versa. Try to be a nice and decent person^^ Happy reading!

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE

Bildresultat för divergent trilogy

I read Divergent because of the hype but didn’t fall for it. Then I picked up the second because I had bought the whole trilogy. Cannot for my life remember what happened in it though. And I still haven’t read the last one. Kind of want to because, as I said, I did buy it, but it probably won’t happen.

A POPULAR BOOK OR BOOK SERIES THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Hate and love are such strong words, but what comes to mind is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I did like it a lot, I gave it 5 stars. In retrospect I’d give it 4, but I feel like I need to reread it to rerate it. It was a really good story, even though it had issues (anyone else want to talk about the trolley witch?!). And I do think that when you see it on stage your mind will be blown!

AN OTP THAT YOU DON’T LIKE

Oh I don’t know… Basically every pairing where Snape is half of it – Snape+Harry, Snape+Hermione etc. I cannot ship him with anyone!

A POPULAR BOOK GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR

Contemporary. I read almost exclusively fantasy, even though I try to branch out from time to time. But yeah, contemporary just feels like those kinds of books that deals with petty problems, which I know isn’t true. It’s just that I want the epicness of fantasy 😀

A POPULAR/BELOVED CHARACTER THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE

Bildresultat för gale hawthorne

Gale Hawthorn, The Hunger Games. Everyone fell in love with him, but the way he is in the books is really not up my alley.

A POPULAR AUTHOR THAT YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GET INTO

John Green. Sorry. I read The Fault in Our Stars after watching the movie and I just didn’t care. Haven’t picked up any other of his books and probably never will.

A POPULAR BOOK TROPE THAT YOU’RE TIRED OF SEEING

Bildresultat för love triangle

These damn love triangles that appear in every single YA book! I like a good love story, but a triangle does not need to be part of it!

To be honest, I like love triangles, but there are just too many out there. And quite a few are, well… Not that well written.

So please, please, stop creating indecisive female characters that just tries to chose between two boys (thought: I’ve never read a gay love triangle, I think that could be something).

A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING.

Bildresultat för mortal instruments books

And every series following this. I read the first book – City of Bones – and oh my I did not like it. I know a lot of people love this series and will read everything set in the Shadowhunters’ world. I just couldn’t care less. But I’m always happy when there is a book series that gets people to read, so great job Cassandra Clare!

THE SAYING GOES “THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE”, BUT WHAT MOVIE OR TV SHOW ADAPTATION DO YOU PREFER MORE THAN THE BOOK?

Bildresultat för hunger games books

Yes, I do prefer the movies to the books. The first book though was better than the movie, but for the rest, movies won. The movies were just so much more gripping than the books and Katniss was actually more interesting in the movies than the books. However, HOLLYWOOD STOP CREATING LOVE TRIANGLES! In the books there were basically no triangle drama. Gale was always just a friend.

  1. Thank you so much for tagging me 😀 I actually didn’t hate The Cursed Child either, gave it 3.5 stars I think. I have read some John Green books, he is far from my favorite contemporary authors.

      1. Her whole personality. I just, what was up with her begin some sort of old creature having lived to keep kids on the Hogwarts Express? That just felt so weird to me and no one else seems to have any thoughts about it😅 Maybe it’s just me…

  2. Definitely agree with most of your choices!
TMI is also a series I probably will never read and John Green just doesn’t do it for me, either (and I’ve already read two or three of his books).
Except for Gale hahaha I love him! But I was actually under the impression most people didn’t like him very much. I always felt like liking him was an unpopular thing to do XD
    Great post 🙂
