2 New “Harry Potter” Books

I just have to ask, what are your thoughts on these two new “Harry Potter” books – Harry Potter: A History of Magic and Harry Potter: A Journey Through A History of Magic – that are set to be released in October?

My first reaction was complete fangirling with everything that includes. Then I went to sleep and now I checked them out on the British Library Shop, and when reading the descriptions I am not as sure anymore. Are they just some sort of companions to an exhibition or will there be actual new facts from J.K. Rowling’ Wizarding World? I don’t want a book that is the overall history of magic, I want the Harry Potter history of magic.

After having read the descriptions I don’t feel at all as strongly about these two books. It feels like something not relevant to the world of Harry Potter. So what are your thoughts on them? Are they anything you’d like to get your hands on?

  1. Hey there! I guess the Journey Through the History of Magic could be interesting, the other book just seems a little weird and as you said, I don’t really see the overall connection to the Harry Potter books. But I might buy the Journey book 😍 Will you buy one of them?

  2. Nothing against it and I do like anything Harry Potter but what I REALLY want is for J.K. to write some prequels for us. At least one. (Ok, who am I kidding? A whole new series with Harry’s parents, Snape, Sirius, Remus and the rest of the gang please!)

    1. I KNOW! But I don’t want prequels, I just want stories from other characters in that same world. I am so glad Fantastic Beasts has happened and we get more stories, I’d just like to get them in book form >.< 😀

  3. I am only interested in Harry Potter: A History of Magic because of “subjects studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.” I am very curious how it all works. I wish we learned more from the books and the movies but alas, we didn’t. It’d be very interesting to see what would actually be learned.
