So, I should be studying for an exam, but I feel like procrastinating. Let’s write a blog post instead! And yes, this is another rant about writing. I have been thinking quite a lot about characters lately. Especially how to distinguish their voices and make each of them interesting, original and multi-dimensional. It is a lot more difficult than one would think at first. What … Continue reading Writing Characters
I had something happen to me recently. I completely spaced out at work, disappearing into the world and characters of the story I’m writing. It was wonderful! I think this is something that happens when you are on the right track and give a project the time it deserves. It kind of starts to create itself. The characters started to talk and interact, and it … Continue reading A Ramble About Writing
I was going to write this post yesterday, but a 11 hour day on campus kind of kills your brain. So instead I went for a walk to the store and bought bananas. But now, let’s give it a new go, with a fresh brain and a lot of motivation! As I’ve mentioned I started watching Brandon Sanderson’s Writing Class on YouTube. This really got me into … Continue reading Finding My Way to Write
A few weeks ago I started watching Brandon Sanderson’s writing classes on YouTube. It has been one of the best decisions I’ve made so far this year. In the 12 hours of this course, Sanderson goes through everything you need to know to write a book. How to create good characters, how to develop plot, magic systems and world building… And he gives you different … Continue reading Brandon Sanderson’s Writing Class
This is the story I promised Angelina from Where Dragons Reside. I hope you enjoy it!
“Rolf, look at this!”
Luna looked through the branches. The disturbance of the water grew stronger. She felt Rolf moving beside her and then he moved some branches to get a better look.
“Do you think we found it?” he asked.
November is over and so is NaNoWriMo, however, for many the writing continues. For me, the goal of 50 000 words is still there and I want to continue writing (as soon as I have these exams done and over with).
My total word count: 12 960
So this has been a complete failure. A lot of people finish this challenge, but there are those of us who fail as well. I was so motivated to start, but not being able to write every single day killed the writing spirit a bit. During the last week I have written a total of 0 words. Zero. Not a single one. So how should I deal … Continue reading Third Week – NaNoWriMo 2016
This is bad. Really bad. My first year as a NaNoWriMo participant has already become a joke. I don’t even know how far behind I am at the moment, and to be honest, I don’t want to know. However, I won’t give up! Even though there isn’t even a snow ball’s chance in hell that I will get to 50 000 words before the end … Continue reading Second Week – NaNoWriMo 2016
Warning: This will be a rant. It went so well. I wrote more than enough words every day. Then weekend came. And I think I wrote a 1000 words in total that weekend. I have a lot of writing to do this week if I want to be able to finish this challenge in time! At the moment I have 7 613 words. I need … Continue reading First Week – NaNoWriMo 2016
If you’ve never heard about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) be prepared to be amazed. It is a month long event taking place every November. The purpose is to motivate writers all over the world and how they do it is by challenging people. 50 000 words in 30 days. Difficult you say? Yes, otherwise it wouldn’t be a challenge. And with November just around … Continue reading NaNoWriMo 2016
