Black Friday 2016 Book Haul

Black Friday. I hadn’t meant to buy anything, but then I realised they had a -20% discount + a chance to get all of your money back on an order so I couldn’t help myself. I know Christmas is just around the corner, but I do think I wont get any of these as a gift then. I haven’t talked about them that much.

But let’s move on and look at the books I bought.

Firstly I picked up Trudi Canavan’s The Black Magician trilogy. This was a Goodreads recommendation quite some time ago, and when I read the synopsis I knew I wanted to read this story. I really hope this lives up to my expectations.

Synopsis to The Black Magician book 1 – The Magicians’ Guild:

The second book I bought was The Inquisition by Taran Matharu, which is the second book in the Summoner series. I do still have to read the first book, but it has received such praise and I want to read it so badly. It is a story about a young man who can summon demons.

Synopsis to Summoner book 1 – The Novice:

The last book I bought was Odinsbarn by Siri Pettersen. It is the first book in the Ravneringene series. Sadly, there is no English edition of this book, but if you happen to understand Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, Czech or Polish, you are lucky. It is a story based in the Norwegian folklore, and if you know anything about the Norwegian folklore that alone should sell this book to you.

Translated synopsis of Ravneringene book 1 – Odinsbarn:

“Hirka is fifteen winters old when she’s told she’s an Odinsbarn (eng: Odin’s child) – a tailless beast from another world spreading decay. Her whole life is turned upside down. She’s become despised, fared and hunted, and somebody wants to kill her to keep her identity a secret. But there are worse things than Odinsbarn, and Hirka isn’t the only creature who’s travelled to this world…”
